Health2Me
Graduate Indiv. Product Design Project
In this project, individual students were tasked to develop a smart connected product. My Health2Me device was designed with health monitoring modules, a touchscreen that provided users with the status of their body, and an automated pill dispensing system. The included wearable emergency response watch had a big button to alert 24/7 operator that an emergency has occurred. It also detected falls and reminded the wearer of pill times and medical test times. Caregivers would feel confident that the patient would take their medicine correctly and would be alerted when the patient is in any trouble. This device would allow elderly patients to live more independently.
I took steps to identify the need for the device, the shortcomings of existing technology, desired features, and the best smart emergency response wearable device. Research included gathering information from medical device websites, potential customer interviews, and interviews with doctors. The hand sketches illustrated show how the device would look and how it would be used. The project focused mainly on the research and marketing strategy that is needed when creating new devices. This project taught me how to gather resources, design a smart device based on the needs of the customer, and develop a business plan to incorporate manufacturers, patients, doctors and partners.
