Air Powered Engine

Undergraduate Machine Shop Project

Our required Machine Shop course at UCSB tasked us with building a miniature engine powered by compressed air. We were given dimensioned drawings and materials to fabricate each component. When the device was complete, the instructor tested the speed of the motor and my motor was the fastest in the class. I learned a lot about mill and lathe operations that helped me understand the possibilities and limitations of the machines used to create designed parts.
